Horse Recording
 

General Information
1.  In order receive points for year end awards, horses/ponies must be recorded with GOHJA.
2.  In order to record a horse/pony with GOHJA, the owner or leasee of the animal must be a member of GOHJA.
3.  In order to ensure that points are being properly distributed, please make sure that each horse/pony is registered under only one name and is registered only once.
4.  GOHJA horse recording is free; however, there is a $20 fee to change a recorded horse/pony's name during the show year.
5.  All horse recordings become effective on the date they are received by GOHJA and expire at the end of the show year (November 30).  Horses/ponies must be re-recorded for the following show year.

Frequently Asked Questions about Horse Recording
 
Am I required to record my horse with GOHJA in order to compete in a GOHJA show?
No.
If you do not wish to compete for year end awards (i.e. accumulate points) or if the horse is used only for Equitation classes (equitation horses do not accumulate points) you do not need to record your horse.
 
How do I record my horse with GOHJA?
There are now two ways to record your horses with GOHJA.
1.   Fill out a GOHJA Horse Recording form with your horse's information.  Mail the completed form to the address shown on the form or turn it in to the Secretary or Steward at any GOHJA sanctioned horse show.
2.  Go to the Horse Recording Form page of this website and complete the on-line form.  Your recording information will automatically be forwarded to the GOHJA Recording Secretary.
A few things to remember:
~ Only GOHJA members are eligible to record horses.
~ Horse recording is free for GOHJA members.
~ Make sure the horse/pony isn't already recorded before completing a recording form.
 
How to I add horses to those recorded in my name?
~ You may either complete an additional GOHJA Horse Recording form and mail it in or you may complete additional Online Horse Recording Forms as discussed above.
~ There is no fee for GOHJA members to record additional horses/ponies.
 
How do I change the recorded information for my horse?
~ To change a recorded horse's information, send an e-mail message explaining the requested change to horserecording@gohja.org.  Don't forget to include your name and the horse's name.
 
How do I change my horse's recorded name?
~ There is a $20 fee to change a horse's recorded name during a show year.
~ Send an e-mail message with your name, and your horse's old and new names to horserecording@gohja.org.
~  You will receive instructions on where to mail the $20 fee by return e-mail.  Your name change will go into effect when payment is received.
